Our Holiday Home

We wanted a holiday home that was completely different to our city apartment lifestyle and was close to beautiful Pakiri Beach. When we came to Manunui Estate, we were won over by the peace, the privacy, the birdsong and the opportunity to regenerate native planting.

Building our Home

We commissioned an Auckland Architectural Design firm to draw up our own house design and contracted Pete Richards from PR Builders in Warkworth to build our “Bush House”. They did a fantastic job personally managing the whole project and communicating with us in Auckland. The project was on budget and on time. In our first year we planted 800 native plants that have grown extremely quickly.

Peaceful and Ever-Changing

Lots of friends come to stay with us, to walk on the beach and enjoy the sound of the stream as they go to sleep – or just come for the day from Auckland – it’s only 80 minutes after all. We love hosting family events with this peaceful, ever-changing outlook, walking on the beach and swimming every day in summer. We’ve teed off at Te Arai, walked the perimeter of Manunui along part of the Araroa trail every summer and spotted huge groups of seabirds, pods of dolphins and orca when we have the beach to ourselves in winter.

An Amazing Place

We feel extremely lucky to have found this amazing place and the warm welcoming community here.
